With Uranios Simonides talks of 76 manuscripts, 46 are palimpsests



It's self evident from Simonides various works, that Simonides planned a whole flood of Hermas forgeries (papyri, parchment, palimpsests etc).

He planned a flood of forgeries.

"Thus, the appearance of a manuscript of Uranius coming from the hand of the well-known Greek, Simonides, had justly to be received with the greatest distrust, which was not diminished by the mode in which the sale of the manuscript was negotiated, and was heightened by the seventy-six manuscripts announced in connection with this find, forty-six of which were said to contain palimpsests, while one offered at once the wanting literary references of the authors who there made their first appearance..."
