Why I Want to Stop Making These Videos | Plan for the Future?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L73v0Z74O0

Hi Chained and friends , To a large extent you have made your point on the videos so far. Whether you make more, stop totally, or take a break is up to you. Keep in mind that you will get a lot of flak.

When I was defending Homestead Heritage in public forums, starting with the old FactNet, and later there was Topix (both gone now) Gary Linzer would call me up and try to steer my approach, and speak negatively of Homestead critics. And I largely ignored Gary and Howard, but it shows you that sometimes you might have puppets on a string critiquing you :).

Now I am not your big fan, I think some of your criticism is ill-founded. Some, like the Ghandi video, is more substantive. And I commented on the Blair Adams memorial vid so I will not repeat that here.

While us early days folks have wonderful memories and appreciation for Blair's life, vision and dedication, there is no reason we should hold back in sharing where he erred. And I have a lonnnng history with what is now Homestead Heritage. Including special studies and discussions with Joel Stein on issues like the pure Bible text and Jehovah or Yahweh.

And I host a Facebook forum called Homestead Heritage Contacts. We are not there to attack Homestead at all, but we do appreciate good analysis. Many of the former members are a little burnt out, the younger ones have often departed from Christianity (they really get an oddball approach to the faith, I remember one family immediately fell into Sacred Name nonsense) and the earlier generation often have moved on, and do very limited digging as to Homestead Heritage pluses and minuses. It is an unusual dynamic.

Those who signed 50 documents, and gave all sorts of vows of submission to the ministry, may feel they are in a pickle now being outside.

Anyway, I appreciate a lot of the back-and-forth that your vids have stimulated. In terms of Christian community, Homestead Heritage is a major force. The cultish Twelve Tribes have some similarities, but they will not even use the name of Jesus!

The vision has born fruit from the seventies, however there are some cracks in the foundation.

Please notice how Blair Adams is rarely, if ever, quoted using Yahweh or Yahshua, his prayer speech is always - "Thank you, Jesus."

That is one reason it is so sad that he allowed the fellership to decline into "Yahweh-worship" (Jupiter-worship) as its main theme and prayer groanings, and also the later decline into the gibberish Yahshua, even into water baptism.

And I do feel that what Blair was teaching, sort of about play Christianity and charismania, has validity. This really goes back to the 70s when we were closer to the Hanbys and Lee Stoneking and the connection with brother Phillips was even deeper. (Think Woodstock 7/7/77.)

You have to be there to really understand the "Thank you Jesus" component. It is different on a tape than live, it can touch you more when it is in a fellowship time.

This was not meant to be really a doctrinal teaching, it had more to do with the state of the "church" today.

==========================

The others (priests of yahweh at homestead heritage) have become hyper-sensitive about this question. Their hope is that you will fully believe and trust the elders before the question comes up. They they can sneak it in at baptism and covenant vow-pledge time and simply be accepted as part of the turf. Never examined.

The last thing they want to do:

1) have an open, comprehensive discussion with the men and woman who have a conviction that not only is yahweh wrong, but it is a dark-side devil name == Jupiter. We would love to talk with them, iron sharpeneth. They could even have invited jovial Nehemia Gordon for a visit.

2) encourage any of the member or prospects to really search out the truth on this question with a tabula rasa - clean slate

3) expose their actual beliefs to their web site, the statement of faith, visitors or anyone not so deeply "in" that it will be a potential exposure of their being a wrong-way Corrigan group.

==================

They are very skilled at attacking the messenger, sometimes making up brazen lies (at best their memories faded), sometimes artful insinuations.

e.g. They will make the absurd claim that attacking the gibberish "Yahshua" is attacking the Lord Jesus Christ!! Amazingly, Abraham Adams wrote that nonsense to me in an email, and never repented or retracted this absurd and sick accusation. (I wrote him a cordial email suggesting that a retraction would be appropriate.)

However, the messenger on this question is not really me (Steven) it is a mountain of Holy Spirit teaching. And Homestead Heritage does not care one whit. They want to rope people in, with the yahweh-jupiter question totally unexamined. Once they are in, it is like a frog with the boiling water.

Thank you for listening my friends.

Blessings and grace in Jesus name,

Thanks Chained.

Homestead Heritage has really gone downhill in Versions, and they use a smorgasbord technique of rummaging through corruption versions to find whatever they feel fits their ideas.

NIV 2011 (and TNIV) is a progressive, woke, "gender equality" terrible version. Should not be used for anything. Discarded.

Push came to shove in the meetings when even the new age version "The Message" was being quoted. Blair spoke out about it, a bridge too far, but it was still able to be used in homes.

However, the core issue is the corruption Westcott-Hort text behind all the major versions, other than the AV (KJB) and the NKJV. My recommendation there is the AV. Folks really need to search for the pure word of God! :)

And I personally shared on these issues with Joel Stein over many years, also with Asi in 2016.

Blessings in Jesus name!

- Greetings!

Jehovah and “yahweh” (Jupiter) are two totally different names, Jehovah is pure Bible, while yahweh is blasphemy. The fellership took their stance for Yahweh and the gibberish yahshua, and reject Jehovah.

Joshua 24:15 (AV)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Psalms 83:18 (AV)
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH,
art the most high over all the earth

I implore you, dear Ramirez family, whatever you believe about Homestead Heritage, to NEVER pray, worship or sanctify the devil word Jupiter/Yahweh.

@Ramirez Family - hi dear Ramirez family. There are many dozens of active Messianic fellowships in Israel, all over the country. In my visits to Israel I went to many, in Haifa, Jerusalem, Galilee and other areas. Even had a little fellowship time with the believers in Zichron Ya'acov. Some of the Karaite Jews will in fact pronounce the name YHVH, which is why Nehemia Gordon taught on the name in 2002 and has expanded the teachings over the years. Here is your fundamental question: " I wonder how Jesus feels about you degrading his anointed people." Homestead Heritage stepped out of the anointing, especially by their hardness of heart in worshipping the dark-side entity "Yahweh" and bringing in the gibberish yahshua to elbow out Jesus, even in the water baptism. They have other problems, but this is clearly a "deal-breaker" before the Lord Jesus Christ. We must blow the trumpet in Zion, we must encourage Homestead Heritage, or a remnant of sincere Christians in Homestead, to walk back in to Christian faith. Thank you for your concern! This was on the plane, where I was asked to encourage .. not yet on the forum

Hi.dear Ramirez Family

Please understand - I have been encouraging and loving the dear Homestead Heritage crew for many years, including special doctrinal studies on issues like Jesus and Jehovah, the pure King James Bible (these were the original beliefs of Blair Adams) the sabbath and other wonderful studies. More recently the Lord Jesus has impressed upon me the question of marriage permanence, where Homestead Heritage, like many, is weak.

And I was there for special happenings, like Woodstock 7/7/77, the early teachings on the Hebrews 6 foundation stones, Blair and Regina visiting The Farm, Blair at Columbia University and Beth Yeshua (or Christ for the Nations) at Stonybrook, leaving the UPC, the move to Colorado, Gary and Howard and Tsafir coming aboard, the early teachings on kosher, health, coffee — and much, much more.

And I am not one who focuses on the general approaches to community and homesteading and ministry authority, the vision and dedication which I highly respect. Nor do I focus on the tragedies that have occurred, knowing that life can take many twists and turns. Yes, I do notice some weaknesses in their writing, speeches and false accusations, especially when glaring. A humorous example is their Catch-22 about apostatizing.:)

It is very important that we seek to be in the faith.

2 Corinthians 5-10
5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 6But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. 7Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. 8For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 9For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection. 10Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

And I share about the errors and blasphemies of Homestead Heritage for edification. Hoping that they, or a remnant, will return to Christianity.

Yours in the majestic name of Jesus.

Thank you for playing this segment from Blair Adams.. It was covered a bit in October "Remove the Plank from your Own Eyes" in Oct 2021,

Chained, you are not really aware of the context of the two gentlemen who were specifically referenced. Please allow me to share some backdrop.

Mark Hanby's dad was S. (Stanley) R. Hanby and he was the author of fine apostolic material, and was friendly with the fellership back in the 70s and was even visited up in the Albany area (Lee Stoneking was also involved there and once preached in the Paramus, NJ fellership.). There was a camp meeting involving many of these gentlemen in upstate NY, I believe in 1976, and Mark Hanby spoke on the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod.

Later, Mark Hanby moved to a type of charismatic evangelical ministry, while his personal life had struggles. Blair Adams in that tape is alluding to much which you would not understand. This includes ideas of how so much of the church became more like theater than having a true Christian grounding. From the point of view of Homestead Heritage, the curtain is coming down on much of that play-theater Christianity.

Kenneth and Wanda Phillips (Wanda recently passed in Nov 2021) go way back to the 1970s with many different connections. Including coming up from Texas with musicians for Woodstock 7/7/77. No more water, but fire next time. Kenneth pastors what is now Promise Land Church.

Knowing this background a bit, I believe is important to the context of the short sound bite. Your speculations are interesting, but a bit off the mark.

The Cesear Augustus "Gospel" idea can be seen:

The Gospel of Wrath? section is awkward straw-man.

And,sadly, about a dozen corruption versions are “used” (usually the actual text is not given.)

They negate their own former teaching of water baptism being for remission of sins, now only citing “repentance”.

The section about “marry our new husband, Jesus” gives wacky verse numbers that are on the different topic of husband and wife marriage.

@Bluegreen Poole - Hi Bluegreen. Basically you are simply fabricating about the supposed hijacking of threads and forums. Yawn. Feel free to try to be specific.

(We did have a fantastic thread on CARM about Jehovah, before the earlier forum crashed, with an Israeli gentleman involved.)

The best discussion spot today for Jehovah-"Yahweh" issues is on Facebook, the group called "The Creator's Name". Solid iron sharpeneth discussions.

And I also have a section on purebibleforum, but that is mostly my analysis, not much discussion, although others are welcome to join in. One fellow feels the attack on Yahweh as corrupt is "blasphemy", similar to the Homestead Heritage approach from Abraham Adams, discussing the gibberish "Yahshua".

And I shared basic issues with Joel Stein from c. 2005-2014, at Homestead's request. Then they shrank back:

Hebrews 10:38-39 (AV)
Now the just shall live by faith:
but if any man draw back,
my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition;
but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

And Homestead Heritqge circled the horses around the devil yahweh. When they cut communication, the Lord Jesus impelled me to share these truths publicly, (since Homestead Heritage was cutting themselves off from truth.) Although I did make additional attempts to share with Blair Adams, and, in person, Asahel Adams in 2017.

Now, you have been warned about the "ohhhhh yahwehhh" prayer rooms, groaning and moaning to a dark-side entity. You are now accountable. My reasonable service is simply to share the truth in love!

Ephesians 4:14-15 (AV)
That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head, even Christ:

That verse describes Homestead Heritage in many ways, including their fatal embrace of yahweh and the gibberish yahshua. They never had the integrity to really review their wind of doctrine.

@Pure Bible "Just because the name Yahweh happens to be absent from the website doesn't mean they're trying to hide it."

========================

Hi commonsense,

Let's use our noggin a little bit.

Homestead Heritage has these core beliefs:

1) "Yahweh-worship" as described in the internal literature

2) prayer rooms that echo with moaning and groaning ... "ohhhh yahhhweehh"
(not for the visitors and newbies)

3) The gibberish Yahshua. Even brought into the water baptism.
(This is in their internal literature, ironically Asahel tried to make it sound like Yeshua at the Exodus Conference, which at least is a legitimate Hebrew word, but does not match the corrupt, creepy Yahweh.)

So you look at the website, including the Statement of Faith, and all this is missing, no Yahweh, no Yahshua. (There is way back in the music section one long-ago album with the creepy title "Yahweh Lives")

So clearly the omission is deliberate. Not just on the website, but all public presentations ignore 1-2-3.

Commonsense, you are being snookered!

Bluegreen Poole
- the English majestic Jehovah (or Yehovah) is simply the transliteration of the Hebrew JHVH with its three vowels. Yahweh (Jupiter) is a horrid corruption that became popular by German liberal and unbeliever confusion. So all your emphasis on English totally misses the point. (Maybe you are following ministry counsel?).

=========

@Bluegreen Poole - Homestead Heritage will counsel posters what to say. I ran into that when I was defending the fellership in the Factnet and Topix wars. A simple example. "Do not use Homestead Heritage, use HH, to keep the discussion out of the search engines" Unfortunately, they also have a habit of trying to spread dirt. Your Revelation interpretation is all over the map. Are you accusing Homestead Heritage of violating scripture by their insistence on using the creepy Yahweh as the Tetragram? Pictogram languages can come up with the same sounds as alphabet languages. The pure sound will be akin to Jehovah.

Thanks, George for mentioning me in the context of the key point. “Yahweh” is a counterfeit representation of the Tetragram (YHVH or JHVH). Jehovah is the true beautiful, majestic, sonorous English name. Not only is Yahweh and the sick “Yahweh-worship” pushed by Homestead Heritage wrong, it is lifting up the dark-side Jupiter, the devil who has always been the enemy of the Hebrews and the Christians (Acts 14:12-13, 19:45.) At one time the Samaritan Temple was dedicated to the devil Jupiter, under pagan pressures. Yes, Jesus Christ is the name above every name (Philippians 2:9). Those who focus on “Yahweh-worship” have put their salvation in grave peril, no matter what good works they believe they have accomplished, no matter how much oil and water mixture they create by mixing the beautiful name of Jesus with the Yahweh and Yahshua counterfeits.

So you say. A deeper debate would then be necessary...in order to get down...to brass tacks. Otherwise you are on one side of the fence and they are on the other. Can two walk together, who do not agree? YAH, iffen they be arguing like true Jews. Or...Bereans. What have rabbis done...for the most part, in their own history?

@George Dunn - for awhile Homestead was actually (apparently) interested in searching out the truth. And Joel Stein was on the case, and we even had an ongoing correspondence. This began in 2005. Then they drew back.

Hebrews 10:38-39 (AV)
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

btw, all the writing in Knowing God by Name is clearly Joel Stein, not Blair Adams. Blair never got involved in this heady, convoluted stuff, and afaik he never gave a "Yahweh" or "Yahshua" apologetic.

Unfortunately, the fellership started putting his name on writings by Joel. This makes future correction that much more difficult.

Remember, the problem is not simply that they "use" the name "Yahweh", being duped into thinking that this is correct English word. The problem goes much, much deeper, because their full focus is "Yahweh-worship" and prayer rooms echoing with the devil name .. "ohhhhh Yahhhweeehhh".

They have learned to keep this quite hidden today, and try to put Jesus in the center of their public talks and website (with the exception of the Yahweh Lives album by Spring of Hope.)

Howevever, they constantly affirm their dedication to "Yahweh", the dark side name.

Colossians 3:17 (AV)
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Acts 4:10-12 (AV)
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Coming into orbit

This idea of using multiple corruption versions to twist scripture was never part of the pure days in the 70s and early 80s with Blair Adams.

The “EBR” is the Emphasized Version, Joseph Bryant Rotterdam gave us the Yahweh-pushing abomination, thus, you are right, the devil name is why they added EBR to the patchquilt, smorgasbord quote, from Isaiah if I remember.

Now, I know my sharing that “Yahweh” is a dark-side Jupiter entity is a hard word for many today, however please dear friends, consider this carefully and prayerfully, in Jesus name.

In earlier days, dear Blair Adams was careful to follow the scriptural admonition:

1 Timothy 3:6 (AV)
Not a novice,
lest being lifted up with pride
he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Now these rather boring and droning self-centered “testimonies” have become the norm. Never in the purer days.

And the worship of the devil “Yahweh” stays unexamined and the little bit of scripture is a hodge-podge of a dozen corruption versions, with the texts mangled to try to match the rhema of the elders.

Now it seems, coincidentally, that these are the newbies who brought in $$$.

@Chained Ambassador - what makes this a complete absurdity, a clunker, is that they absolutely insist (internally) that you become a worshiper of an entity named "yahweh", which is NOT a Christian or Bible spirit. It is an absurd and sad joke that they would claim that your salvation is dependent on accepting this entity in the "ohhh yahweehhh" prayer rooms and in the music worship. Granted, they keep it hidden in the public presentations, but it is in their literature and in their daily praxis. Think of the absurdity, telling Bible-believing Christians that they have to worship a creepy something in order to walk in salvation. God forbid! In fact, we should hold them up in prayer, even in their last breaths those around them are supposed to be lifting up this wrong-side entity, so their salvation itself at best hangs by a thread. Blessings and grace in Jesus name! Steven Avery

=================

About 25 years back I visited some USA Sacred Name cult groups, who made calling on “Yahweh” their dividing line issue. There was a superficial attraction, but I was delivered by the Lord Jesus away from that darkness.

Yet Homestead Heritage is far more fervent in their groanings and shoutings to “Yahweh” in their prayer rooms than any of those cult groups. This is NOT optional. (I even heard them mangle Days of Elijah at the Fair! And ran the aisles OUT.)

You cannot just say no to that dark-side name. Even if you simply want to stick to the King James Bible, and use the glorious Jesus and majestic Jehovah, and LORD, the elder will come a-knocking. And insist that “Yahweh” is their revelation and you should discard Jehovah. You “pray through” to agreement … or you are out. This dark, devilish absurdity is highlighted in the internal literature. You MUST comply. (Not in Blair’s original fellership, which was only Jesus-centric.)

They do keep it limited in their public talks, although Asahel Adams will get all pumped up (buffeted, too much coffee?) every time he can throw a “Yahweh” into his talks. And Howard Wheeler will spout sophistry trying to defend this abomination. Joel and Howard, with the ok from Gary Linzer, Barry and Tsafir, enshrined this as Homestead Heritage MUST doctrine.

Closer to 2000 they even added the total gibberish “Yahshua” to worship and water baptism, as the supposed real name of Jesus. Error begets error. It is in their literature, but they are very reluctant to publicly talk about it today.

All this cultish FALSE name absurdity is connected with their hope to come out with their own Version.

So it is trivially obvious, to.any informed Christian with integrity, that Homestead Heritage is not, and can not, be a path to salvation. Yahweh is actually Jupiter, the devil realm who you see in Acts fighting the Christian faith and is connected to the abomination of desolation in the Temple.

Homestead has this “yahweh” whispering in their ear, controlling their minds, speaking false “prophecies”, so their salvation in Jesus Christ would only be holding by a very thin thread, at best.

Today, there is no way for them to take you on a Salvation Road, with submission to Yahweh through the eldership.

The 70s fellership was amazing in a way hard to describe. We really believed we were the cutting edge of Christian faith, called for a purpose, we were dedicated. And even today I would allow the possibility that God could anoint a specific fellership and community to be a special beacon, city on a hill whose light can not be hid. (Matthew 5:14). Such a church would move more and more to sound Bible doctrine faith.

And the anointing there is now Ichabod - departed - perhaps it will pass elsewhere, or to a remnant that fully rejects “Yahweh” and their absurd smorgasbord, corruption Bible mangling.

Homestead Heritage doctrine and exposition (the convoluted writings) has severely deteriorated in many realms, as their minds get dulled with the new “pattern” of coffee swigging.

Pablum on the Christian faith, they have the community patterns still, an area where Blair Adams was strong. (His early writings there can show you his style before the Joel Stein, with the Center, tiresome nonsense. In earlier days they would actually list the names of a dozen Center contributors.)

Now I understand that it is not popular among those contra to Homestead to talk about the good parts, and how close they came, but it is my reasonable service. The popular contra idea is that they are simply like Cult A-B-C. However, only those who saw the 70s to early 80s can give an informed review.

The dedication to “Yahweh”, the “ohhhh yahwehhh” prayer rooms, is a road to perdition and has fully destroyed their Christianity.

Around 2005 they were allowing some reexamination of the abomination “Yahweh” (including my correspondence with Joel Stein), but they were snared by the dark entity, and shrank back. (Hebrews 10:39.). Now they wallow in their hardened hearts, refusing every sincere and earnest study.

Yours in Jesus name,

Steven Avery

===========================

@James Broadhead - as I said, those who were not there in the 70s and early 80s are not really informed as to Blair and Regina and how the fellowship developed. From what I have seen, any person from those days who has left will speak with respect and honour towards Blair and Regina and those early days. Also, originally Blair was King James Bible, where there is no “yahweh” As for the devil “Yahweh” that has destroyed Homestead Heritage, the situation as to why Jehovah is correct and Yahweh and Yahshua are abominations has become crystal clear in the last 25 years. There really is no difficulty or debate any more. Just fun study. The Karaite Nehemia Gordon helped this along, as when I saw him speak near Talpiot, Jerusalem in 2002. He also later helped explain the Yahweh-Jupiter connection. Yes, when the fellowship started pushing this abomination, it was partly in ignorance. Perhaps God winked at the error. However, those days are long over. It is possible that they do not push the “prayer to Yahweh” and “Yahweh-worship” abominations as hard overseas, South Africa, Israel, New Zealand, especially now that their true King has been exposed. They may be soft-pedaling it to avoid embarrassment. They do seem to be pulling back from “Yahshua” a gibberish nonsense concoction from the 1930s, which is however in their literature. This gibberish actually made it into their water baptisms, at least for many years. btw ... They have totally changed their "born again" explanation, offering two conflicting stories depending on the audience. All this around Yahweh is not a scholastic or intellectual little error, this is foundational to their faith error. You MUST be in the yahweh-devil prayer rooms, moaning, groaning, crying out. Yahweh is #1 in their book, “Yahweh-worship” is written as their stated goal in their literature. If you think this is a non-issue, that is your right, at least I have made my due diligence efforts. Blessings and grace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! Steven Avery Dutchess County, NY USA

Yes - that

“you pray about it” really means

“you must hear the same word from God that we the elders say” :).

They have given the ok to dangerous jobs (I was knocked unconscious with amnesia when trusses fell, shortly after a worker died in a similar accident) and for the peons we basically never had vacations.

They can be ultra-restrictive on family visits, one family did not even go to the memorial service for grandchildren.

And I ran into a similar situation when a close relative passed.

More of Homestead Heritage Denouncing Christianity
https://youtu.be/hN3Eih5TkEg

- on another topic :)
Now posting on Homestead Heritage Contacts

A Tale of Two Doctrines

One of the strangest new elements in Homestead Heritage teaching, helpful to understand, is that they have two distinct, clashing soteriology doctrines, depending on the audience.

Historically they taught the supernatural born-again experience in a way called apostolic or oneness, where there is a two-fold baptism, the “doctrine of baptisms” of Hebrews 6:2. Water baptism in Jesus name for remission of sins! and the Holy Ghost (Spirit) baptism as evidenced by speaking in tongues. Cornelius in Acts 10:46-48 would be one example. The old-timers often knew these Scripture interpretations by heart from the AV, starting with the words of Jesus to Nicodemus, John 3:5, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

Homestead still claims this as their doctrine when speaking to oneness friends and audiences. I’ve seen and heard this again and again. Last year they had a session at a UPC conference on community in Missouri, and in that environment they want to look as if their doctrine is unchanged from the first 10-15 years (they were officially UPC from 1973-1977).

The water baptism changed in many ways. One way was interesting, added c. 1983, a testimony from the individual like Acts 8:37 before the baptism.
Acts 8:37
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
And he answered and said,
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

(They avoid quoting that verse as Scripture today.)

This verse was linked:

1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
whereunto thou art also called,
and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Then everything began to go south. Using corruption versions on 1 Peter 3:20 and eisegesis, they wanted the water baptism to be a “vow” and "pledge" to the ministry and the community, as in Joel’s convoluted writings. The individual would have a long complex interregnum, first orally, later written with c. 100 signatures/initials. The gibberish non-Hebrew “Yahshua” came into the fellership to pair with “Yahweh” and then into the water baptism, jostling with and even supplanting the name of Jesus. And the “remission of sins” element of the experience is now playing second or third-fiddle.

You can see the result in their recent Evangel Life Ministries broadcasts, where the participants and desired audience includes wayward charismatics and baptists looking for a community church home. They will still teach the Spirit baptism as evidenced as speaking in tongues, almost apologetically, wondering why God used such a distasteful sign (sic), a strange twist involving God’s choice of the sign. And one can wonder today if it is still always “as the Spirit gave them utterance” Acts 2:4. The reports support skepticism.

They will not place this Spirit baptism in Evangel Life Ministries as part of the two-fold baptism experience described above. The water baptism is gone from that experience, it is lifting other loads.

And their statement of faith online also has additional contradictions.

I’ll stop here, I just want to lay out some of the changes, and their double-minded doctrines. (James 1:18.)

One of the most unusual heretical statements from Homestead Heritage is in their online statement of faith.

What We Believe
https://www.homesteadheritage.com/beliefs/

"—We believe in believer’s baptism (immersion) as a pledge of the old nature into the sacrificial death of Jesus as well as into the lordship of Jesus and that therefore takes place in the name of Jesus."

"pledge of the old nature"

This is really wacky, since a pledge by definition is something of real value.
Pledge - Law
a thing that is given as security for the fulfillment of a contract or the payment of a debt and is liable to forfeiture in the event of failure.
"he had given the object as a pledge to a creditor"
