Greek text translated at Chalcedon AD 451
καὶ οἱ τρεῖς τὸ ἔν εἰσι,
Latin - et tres unum sunt

The Greek is surprising, an early 3 are 1.
The Epistle of Leo the 10th which quotes the passage without the 7th verse, and without the words “ in earth " in the 8th verse, was applauded in the West, and translated into Greek and read in the Council of Chalcedon, and there solemnly approved and subscribed by all the bishops. So then we have the reading quoted by the Pope, owned in the West, and solemnly subscribed In the East by the fourth general Council, and, therefore, it continued the public received reading in both the East and the West, till after the age of that Council.

26 Ps.-Athanasius, Disputatio contra Arium 44.18, PG 28:500: “Τί δὲ καὶ τὸ τῆς ἀφέσεως τῶν
