Certain of Budny's corrections in the 1574 edition the Lithuanian brethren specifically allowed to stand; they promised to defend him, should anyone criticize him on these points (Bud NT[Q9] ciiv-iiir): 1 Cor. 10:9 ("Neither let us tempt God") j 1 Tim. 3:16 ("great is the mystery of the godliness, which was manifest in the flesh"); and the deletion of 1 Jn. 5:7 ("For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one").6’ As to the annotations, Budny agreed to omit discussion of Lk. 3:23 and Mt. 1:22 ("Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son"). He further retracted his statements that the Epistle to the Hebrews was suspect, and he promised to avoid words not found in Holy Scripture concerning the conception of Christ "from Joseph's seed."
