Let us clear up some basics.
Sam Hersh consistently tries to deceive the readers here by pretending that we are dealing with pronunciation issues
J or Y ?
V or-W ?
In fact, J or Y, V or W, are acceptable.
While I prefer JEHOVAH as in the Authorized Version, using a Y or a W retains the same word.
e.g. Nehemia Gordon often uses Yehovah, and acknowledges that it is the same word as Jehovah.

Actually, we are dealing with two TOTALLY DIFFERENT WORDS
Jehovah is 3-syllables and matches the
Masoretic pointing
Hebraic sources.
Yahweh is 2-syllables and is not a real Hebrew word anywhere, it is just a "scholarly" guess, largely rooted in Gesenius in the 1800s.
Gesenius liked the form specifically because it fit the Jupiter paganism. Liberal and unbelieving scholars see the Hebrew faith as simply warmed-over paganism.
Christians who use the form "Yahweh" are making a major error. John MacArthur (1939-2025) would be an example.
Many steps further into heresy and blasphemy, those who proclaim "Yahweh-worship" are in total heresy.

Similar with the gibberish form "Yahshua", created in the 1930s in the USA by know-nothing Sacred Namers.
That form is not Jesus, and should never be in water baptism, literature, prayer, music or any worship.
