warning: modern internet sites may place "Yahweh" where the author placed Jehovah or JEHOVAH

First we had:

Warning: - net Bible resources mangle commentary to replace Jehovah and the LORD with devil name "yahweh" (Jupiter)

And I saw a website that had the Albert Barnes commentary with "Yahweh" and wondered how that could be, since he wrote the commentary of Isaiah no later than 1840, way before the name was mangled. The same applies to his Gospel commentary, written 1834.

Here you can see the original name from Barnes is correct, Jehovah and LORD are used.

The online commentaries mangle this to the name of the unclean devil name. I am using google search on the Isaiah verse with oy-vey to find these.

Here are four commentaries.

This I noticed because a dear friend in involved in Promiseland Church in Austin, TX. I was wondering if that church was buffetted by the oy-vey principality (they use modern versions). And they had the Barnes quote mangled. They probably took it from one of the web sites.

Barnes' notes on the Bible says it like this: "And the glory of the Lord - The phrase here means evidently the majesty, power or honor of Yahweh..."

Hi,

Albert Barnes does NOT use the devil name "Yahweh" (which is the name Jupiter. Jove-pater is Jupiter and Jove is pronounced Yahweh.)

Albert Barnes properly uses Jehovah and LORD in his book, as you can see here.

Notes: Critical, Explanatory, and Practical on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah: With a New Translation, Volume 3 (1840) https://books.google.com/books?id=oHw9AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA22

Now, I realize that you probably picked up this mangling from a source like Studylight, however it is extremely important that it be corrected, representing Albert Barnes properly.

Thanks!

Hi,

It is extremely important that it be corrected, representing Albert Barnes properly, even if you do not agree that Yahweh is wrong.
