The sense is that they were used as a dump room for inconvenient parts, such as a good chunk of Hermas that embarrassed Tischendorf since the Simonides Hermas of 1855-56 was so close to the Sinaiticus Hermas The Arabic was likely put on in Sinai at the monastery c. 1850, not from Simonides. If this "sticks" I can add more!
