Stephen Stockhaus I prefer Lord for most occasions. That is the way it was translated when God authored the NT, when people translated the OT into Greek, in Latin and in the KJV.
Part of the problem with translating Eternel or Jehovah is that He disappears in the NT. Where is Jehovah in the NT? He is there, but He is designated by the word Lord. Therefore when you come to verses like

Philippians 2:10 which is reference to Isaiah 45:22-24 or
1 Corinthians 15:47 and Acts 10:36 which are references to Psalms 115:15-16, or

Matthew 12:8 a reference to Exodus 20:10, or
Matthew 12:8
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Exodus 20:10
“But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:”

Hebrews 13:20 a reference to Psalms 23:1, or
Hebrews 13:20
“Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,”
Psalm 23:1
“(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 which is a reference to Psalms 47:5,
Hebrews 1:10 in reference to Psalms 102:24-25

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
etc. etc. you do not see the same connection. That is unless you do what Elias Hutter or other Hebrew manuscripts of the NT did and put the name Jehovah in the NT as well.
