Hello from Canada

Hello everyone, I came here from CARM.
I grew tired of the incessant and poorly thought out attacks on the pure bible, so began looking for a more sane message board.
I was saved in the midst of spiritual warfare, which I had basically brought upon myself.
Within days, I found I needed an English version of scripture that would be effective in every situation, not just a select few.
The Amplified bible had proven itself insufficient, so I tried Young's Literal Translation, which I understand is based on the TR.
It had a few problems, so eventually I decided if I was going to read older English, I may as well stick with the KJV.
At some point I bought a NKJV with commentary, but eventually its flaws like missing scripture based on ridiculous premises made themselves known to me.
I looked at other KJV variants, but they were all trying to base themselves on non-TR texts,
and I was like, "Why would you even call it a KJV if it isn't based on the TR?"

So the only version that remained standing was the KJV.
Might never be toppled by any other.

Welcome, Winterleaf!

I was never a member on CARM, but I have read a lot of posts on that website. That website is the reason I am here, because I didn't know who Steven Avery was until I saw him posting on that site. I then discovered this website, but I didn't actually join for over year but just read what Steven posted on here.

I went through something similar to you where I tried other TR-based translations, like the ISR Scriptures. But as you pointed out, these other TR-based English Bibles all have serious and obvious flaws, whereas when you finally come to the KJV, you realize that any "flaws" pointed out by the critics are actually incorrect and that the KJV got it right.

I don't think it will be toppled by any other! I really do think the KJV is God's pure word in English. I look around and it doesn't seem like there is much time left before the Lord returns anyhow, maybe within decades. So I don't see why another English Bible would suddenly dethrone the KJV now.

Great to have you aboard, Winterleaf and Sifted Sands.

I actually went through a whole transition period, started with the:

NIV and NAS
(What is now Homestead Heritage let these pollutants in after Blair Adams started in 1973 with the pure AV)

1980s

Sacred Name Bibles

ISR (friends online with Wilhelm for some years, he still is around, afaik still with the creepster name)

Sacred Name Bibles that try to be KJB or TR
(Assembly of Yahweh in Holt, Michigan had a conference I went too, and they were trying to mix these together)

NKJV

2002 - saw Nehemia Gordon in Jerusalem speaking on Karaite topics, one day was totally on Yehovah correct, Yahweh false.
Later he zeroed in on the major paganism, Jupiter, although there are also Amorite and Egyptian posibilities for the pagan connection. By then I was becoming closer to a pure AV person

Jay Green Modern

Douel off-brand KJB

KJB -

Special respect for the Pure Cambridge Edition.

Most of this was around 1995 to 2000
