b. Interpreting Ca’s particularities

The sequence of the five biblical books that Ca offers is quite
particular. Not only does it differ from the order in N R but it
even stands out from the manuscript transmission of the Septu-
agint and Old Testament exegesis in general. 61 The combination
of Job and the four books Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song and
Wisdom is frequently attested in Septuagint and catena manu-
scripts, but it almost always includes Ben Sira (compare n. 16).
Some of those codices even mirror Ca (in contrast to N R) in hav-
ing Job close the group, but in those cases Job is always preceded
by Ben Sira: 62
a combination in which Job directly follows Wisdom is highly exceptional. 63

62 Examples include the famous uncial Codex Sinaiticus (fourth century) and MS Patmos, Monê tou Hagiou Iôannou tou Theologou, 209 (thirteenth century). Compare furthermore MS Wien, ÖNB, theol. gr. 199 (sixteenth century). Information relating to all of these Septuagint manuscripts, as well as to those mentioned in the following notes, can be retrieved from A. Rahlfs Verzeichnis der griechischen Handschriften des Alten Testaments, Berlin, 1914. For the Sinaiticus, an updated description is available in A. Rahlfs & D. Fraenkel, Verzeichnis. Bd. I, 1.
