Recently, I have been studying some theories on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Solomon Zeitlin (1892-1976) argued against authenticity and some of his arguments were very interesting, and Victor H Mair (b. 1943) analyzed Chinese symbols in the DSS, starting in August 1990, the reporter has been Neil Altman.

The Moses Wilhelm Shapira (1830-1884) papri have also been in the news, with special attention given by Ross K. Nichols.

Another area of interest are papyri forgeries, especially the Bodmer, e.g. James David Audlin has a paper on P66 that is in Academia.edu.

There are additional Papyri theories, Cooper went into Bodmer I believe.

Plus there may be current follow-up to Zeitlin.

Plus Tabor and others may be involved with Shapira.

Dennis Mizzi as well.

Thanks, Matthew Hamilton is a superb writer and thinker, especially on forgery issues.

After reading the Oskar K. Rabinowicz article on JSTOR:
https://www.jstor.org/action/doBasicSea ... inowicz%22

and how Shapira tested the scholars, a five-year window before the strips physically came forth, I tend to agree with you. Still, I respect the authenticity writers.

(And I have a few Shapira pages on PureBibleForum.)

Note the analogy to the Tischendorf 1844 Sinaiticus test.
Will it fly?
Will they really believe these beautiful, virtually pristine, flexible parchment leaves are 1500 years old?
You never know. (The P.T. Barnum methodology.)

Maybe Tischendorf convinced himself.

Means, motive, opportunity.

Tony Burke book:

This so-called “Shapira Scroll” was determined to be a forgery by Charles Clermont-Ganneau and David Ginsburg who argued that the text was written on strips taken from the lower margin of a disused synagogue roll and then treated with chemicals to look ancient.

Does Matthew Hamilton touch on the colouring question?
Difficult when the fragments are not available for inspection and testing.
So far, I have not dug deeper than the Tony Burke reference. Not mentioned in Rab.

As occurred with the 1859 St. Petersburg section of Sinaiticus, but not the Leipzig 1844.
