Sinaiticus was proof-read multiple times by its owners or by people working for its owner. And each time, there was a different exemplar, or a different figment in the imagination of the corrector, which was used by the corrector as his standard of comparison.
Which makes Sinaiticus even more valuable as a witness: it shows us a snapshot of not just one, but two texts of the New Testament, that existed in two different time periods.
(More than two, really - read all about it in the Lakes' book, or just visit the Codex Sinaiticus website and look around.

And what is the connection between the existence of this handwriting in some of the notes in Sinaiticus and the need for radiocarbon testing?
Finally, do I understand correctly that you are retracting your previous claim that Sinaiticus already had been radiocarbon dated?
