This is a great case of Vaticanus primacy taken to an extreme by Westcott-Hort, later the Critical Text moved away from the Vaticanus error.

obviously an Egyptian corruption. Sometimes I wonder if B was as much a back-translation of Coptic as D was of Latin.

Have you hit variants where the source-target relationship looks to be Coptic—>Vaticanus as more Ockham-friendly than Vaticanus—>Coptic?

There are a couple of points made by James Snapp on that blog page that seem to point in that direction.
Textual criticism gate-keepers may be discomfited by this theory, considering their romantic attachment to Vaticanus.
