There was no dispute, because the person who added the passage was a big wig in the church, according to F.C. Conybeare's investigation into an Armenian MS of the gospels dated 986, see:

As I see it, the F.C. Conybeare research has been and is deliberately suppressed by the KJV lobby, but it's very relevant.

Those pesky pure Bible AV supporters have so much censorship power! lol
